Curriculum Review & Update - Autumn 2024

Following our Ofsted visit in March 2024, we have been reviewing the curriculum offer for the pupils in our Early Years setting and across Key Stage 1 & 2.  We have been able to work alongside Sarah Quinn, an early years specialist and Emma Turner, a published Curriculum specialist, to review and update our curriculum for children who attend our school.

As of September 2024, children who are in our nursery or reception classes and welcomed in our combined Early Years Unit, with a bespoke outdoor setting to enhance learning opportunities.

Our school curriculum has been designed to reflect an interconnected curriculum, moving away from the more tradition 'topic based' curriculum.  Each year group has 3 focus units for science, history and geography so that we can embed the knowledge and skills as prescribed by the National Curriculum, without overloading 'extra' information and activities.  This will support the children's learning in making links to more specific prior knowledge and skills acquired as they move throughout the school.

Our curriculum areas on the school website are being updated throughout the Autumn term and more parent workshops are planned so that we can work together to enable children to achieve their maximum academic potential.

Each class will be incorporating a minimum of 2 trips and external visitors to support their first hand experience of learning and embedding knowledge and key skills.

If you have any comments or queries call into school or phone the school office & we'll do our best to help you out.
