A brief overview of our subjects this term:
ENGLISH - We're starting with creating our own Mayan Myth based on The Hero Twins, using a graphic novel version as our model text.
MATHS - Place value, rounding and Roman Numerals lead to starting Addition/Subtraction calculations,
GUIDED READING - We're using Holes by Louis Sachar, linked to our Geography unit - it's a great read!
HISTORY - The Ancient Maya Civilisation! We're so excited to explore this fascinating era and even go to Cadbury World to learn more about inventing chocolate.
GEOGRAPHY - Where were the Maya? We're looking at North, South and Central America, using our atlas skills and researching key facts about major countries in the area.
SCIENCE - It's all about Forces first, with lots of hands on experiments in Physics. Next, we'll look at States of Matter: Gases, Liquids and Solids.
COMPUTING - Coding, coding, coding on Purple Mash.
MUSIC - We're using Charanga to explore Bon Jovi's big hit - Livin' on a Prayer!
ART - We will be creating our own sculptures based on Mayan Masks... spooky!
DESIGN/TECHNOLOGY - It's a tasty one, trying to recreate Mayan chocolate and spicy salsa in Food Technology
FRENCH - Linked to our Geography unit, we'll learn how to use directions in French and see where in the world are French-speaking countries
R.E. - Exploring values is our first unit, looking at choices we make and the potential consequences of following (or not following) guidelines at home and school.
P.E. - Swimming on a Monday and Orienteering on a Wednesday
P.S.H.E. - We'll start by exploring relationships, at school, home and the local community
