Early Reading RWI (Read Write Inc)

A big thank you to the parents and carers who were able to join me in the Phonics Screening Check meeting last week.

If you were unable to attend please don't worry as I've got  a pack of resources  ready to give your child tomorrow at school.

Many Thanks

The importance of reading daily....

Coming Soon..... RWI Workshop for Nursery Parents/Carers.

At Jacksdale Primary we invest a lot of time and have high aspirations for the children as they learn to read.

Early reading is critical to all children so that they develop the skills and confidence to become independent readers which has an impact on writing ability and opens doors to so many different avenues!

RWI (Read Write Inc.) is an English focused programme which enables the teaching of early reading and writing (phonics).

We understand that how your child is learning to read and write may be very different to how we, as adults, remember learning to read and write.  In the links on this page you will be able to access a lot of guidance and support so that you can help your child as much as possible - and access the information as often as you like...

We also run parent workshops so that you can see and have a go at practising some of the phonics (sounds) learning that your child takes part in EVERY DAY at school.

The first workshop for parents of children in Reception and Year 1 is being held on Thursday 29th September in the school hall - 9:00 - 10:00 or 2:30 - 3:30, with Mrs Gray.

Wondering what we mean when we talk about SPEED SOUNDS? This chart should make it clear!

What do parents and visitors think of our approach and support for families and children?
