This afternoon we took 24 children from Key Stage 2 to Wollaton Park to take part in a cross country event arranged by Nottingham High School. On a cold day, on a boggy course, the children competed wonderfully. Cross country is the one sporting event we enter that is really demanding physically but our children kept going and all should be really proud of their achievements today.

Girls football finals - 29/1/24

As a result of winning the qualifying round last week, our girls' football team this afternoon played in the finals of a tournament held at the Mansfield Town FC academy. The girls were superb and played to an incredible level. Unfortunately, we missed out an qualifying for the east midlands round of the competition by just one goal. The girls played brilliantly and conducted themselves incredibly well - they were a true credit to our school. Thank you to Miss Place for coaching our team. We can't wait to play again on Monday! Well done girls!

Disability and Diversity Wheelchair Activities - W/C 22nd January

Next week we will have special visitors into school. To raise awareness of disability and diversity, the children will be taking part in a number of wheelchair sporting events. Express Coaching Services will be bringing wheelchairs into school and children from all year groups will be taking part in some of the following activities:

Wheelchair dance/movement

Wheelchair archery

Wheelchair basketball

Wheelchair tag rugby

Wheelchair tennis

We're sure the children will have a fantastic time taking part in familiar sports but with a huge twist. At the same time, they'll learn how people with disabilities can still take part in sporting activities.

Football v Underwood C of E Primary School - 21/11/23

We played our second league game of the season against Underwood C of E Primary School this afternoon. The game was played at Brinsley Primary School on a very soggy pitch. In very difficult conditions, we managed to play some brilliant football, leading 2-0 at the break thanks to an own goal and Harlee Pollard, who finished off and incredible team move. Kicking up hill second half, we found it difficult to clear our lines and spent much of the game bravely defending our goal. We eventually came out 2-1 winners in a 'game of two halves.' Special mention goes to Jozeph Birch, who dragged us through the second half and showed fantastic effort and determination. A great result boys! Many thanks to Brinsley for allowing us to use their pitch.

Year 5/6 Mansfield Town football tournament - 20/11/23

Special mention goes to our Year 5 team members who performed brilliantly, with Seb Wilks scoring with a header direct from a long throw.

Eastwood and District football tournament - 15/11/23

Our football team took part in the annual Eastwood and District football tournament today, which was held at The Kimberley School. The standard was very high and our team didn't qualify from our group. We won one game, drew one and lost two games. The boys competed well and in most cases kept their heads up when results were going against us.

Year 5 tag rugby festival - 10/11/23

This afternoon, several of our Year 5 children took part in a tag rugby festival, organised by Nottingham High School. Despite the game being new to lots of our children, they competed very well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We won one game, drew one and lost one. Well done Year 5s!

Football v Lawrence View Primary School - 7/11/23

Tonight, we played our first league game of the season at Lawrence View Primary School. Looking resplendent in our pink kit (which helped us be seen in the gathering gloom), we dominated the game from start to finish, running out 7-0 winners. We didn't let our standards fall even when in a strong position and played some lovely football. An excellent night's work!

Football v Priory Academy - 9/10/23

Our school football team played its first game of the new year: a friendly match at the Priory Academy. The first game of a new season is always interesting as players get used to new formations and team mates. We had a difficult first half and early in the second half found ourselves 6-2 down. Incredibly, the children managed to turn the game on its head, winning 7-6! Kayden Coope scored of our second half goals. An incredible turnaround. Well done boys!

All children from Reception through to Year 6 will now receive orienteering lessons during the course of the year. We have now also got permanent orienteering courses on our playground, the welfare grounds and the nature reserve. Our lessons will take place at some or all of these locations.

New sponsored football kits - July 2023
