Sports Premium Funding at Jacksdale Primary & Nursery School
The Primary PE and Sport Premium is ring-fenced government funding allocated to primary schools in England. At Jacksdale Primary & Nursery School, we are committed to using our Sports Premium funding to enhance the quality of Physical Education, School Sport, and Physical Activity for all our pupils. This government funding allows us to make sustainable improvements that benefit both current and future students.
Key Areas of Investment
We have allocated the Sports Premium funding across six key areas:
- Continuing professional development (CPD) – training for staff to increase confidence and competence in delivering high quality PE lessons – particularly in gymnastics.
- Specialist coaching and external staff – hiring qualified coaches and external professionals to assist in delivering PE, work alongside teachers, or run after-school clubs – this year this has been in cricket, gymnastics and orienteering.
- Extra-curricular activities – expanding the range of after-school and lunchtime clubs, such as Mansfield Town coaching for girls, fencing club and dodge ball club.
- Equipment and resources – purchasing new PE equipment, sports kits and educational platforms that enhance the breadth and quality of the curriculum.
- Swimming and water safety – providing top-up swimming lessons to ensure pupils meet the national curriculum requirements.
- Competitions and memberships – paying membership fees for School Games Organiser networks and funding travel or entry into inter-school and county tournaments.
Impact of the Funding
- Over 50% of pupils have represented the school in sporting events.
- The majority of pupils have either represented the school in sporting events or taken part in an extra-curricular club.
- Increased confidence in swimming, with more pupils achieving the 25m standard.
- New sports and activities have broadened pupil experiences and engagement.
- Staff training has enhanced PE delivery, ensuring long-term benefits for our pupils.
Our goal is to continue making sport and physical activity an integral part of school life, fostering a lifelong love of movement and well-being. We aim to introduce children to even more sports and activities and ensure an even higher percentage of children represent the school in sporting competitions and festivals.
