This term, we're reviewing our behaviour policy to make sure that it's effecrive and works to keep our children safe and maintain the exceptionally good behaviour we see in and around school. National legislation (Keeping Children Safe in Education) means that there will be some updates required and the staff looked at this on our INSET day at the start of term. We're also conscious that there are a lot of rules in school and are talking to the children about reducing these so they are more simple and effective (as well as memorable!)...
KIND SAFE RESPECT
We have been using these key words with the children and have had positive feedback from them so this will be implemented in our behaviour policy update later this term.
The staff have also had training about around restorative counselling (so children understand how / why things happen and the effect it may have on themselves or others, not just having a talk with a teacher or missing some time); mindfulness approach so that children and adults can recognise and understand their own emotions as well as those of others; and growth mindset - so that we develop children's attitudes to learning. All of this will take time and we're not there YET, but together as a school, we want to support each other so that our whole school vision is realised:
THAT EVERY INDIVIDUAL IS VALUED AND MAKES A VALUABLE CONTRIBUTION, SO THEY ARE THE BEST THAT THEY CAN BE.
