MESSAGES FROM MRS D & MRS N

13/7/2020

Good morning everyone!

Mrs D here, writing what I think will probably be my last Home Learning message for all of you working at home. I know we've still got a few weeks left before the summer holidays start officially, but I'm going to have my hands full (literally!) very soon with Baby Davies 2.0!

It's been extra bonkers to be working from home during these weird times and I've been gutted not to be able to carry on building towers on the baby bump during registration time for Bump Buckeroo... but I will 100% be seeing Year 6 when we have a get together in Autumn term, and I'll be seeing Year 5 when I'm back next year.

I hope you all know how incredibly proud I am of how you've gone with the flow since March. Every single time there's been a change (from little ones to monumental ones) you have taken them in your stride and given everything your absolute best shot. I hope Max and 2.0 grow up to be as brave and awesome as you lot. Enjoy the last few weeks and your next exciting adventure!

See you soon!

Lots of love from Mrs D and the other Davieses

Hello everyone!

It's scary how quickly the days are going this week - or is it just me? I hope you're all getting along okay and starting to think ahead to a (hopefully) sunny weekend. It's exciting that we can get out in the dry weather again and some of the local parks have started to re-open too. Woohoo!

There's still one space for a certificate winner for Year 5... Well done Evelyn and Lacie-Mae for finding time to get on there! There's not much time left for this week's battle and I think Year 6 might be the winners somehow...

Year 6 if you haven't sent baby photos in, please ask your grown ups to email school with them ASAP!!

Have a great day and don't forget to take a time out for you in between all the Home Learning or Bubbles! OOOH there's a music lesson on Oak National Academy today. Yay!

Missing you all.

Love Mrs D and Mrs N

Good morning!

LOOK WHAT I GOT YESTERDAY! After a loooooooong wait, I finally had a precious strawberry milkshake! Still hoping I'll be able to fit in an Ed's Diner one (the King of Milkshakes) before Baby Davies 2.0 arrives, but this one was so good! 6D will know how happy I was in this moment! laugh

I hope you all have a fab day! Missing you all!

Lots of love,

Mrs D and Mrs N

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the middle of the week! We hope you've been keeping busy whilst taking care of yourself, too. Lola has become properly glued to Baby Davies 2.0 recently! Look!

Year 6, I know you've been busy at school and at home, and you've also found time to have a go on Times Tables Rock Stars! Boom! Year 5... this is your mid-week wake up call! I'm sure you've been just as busy as Year 6, but no one has been on TTRS yet. There's a huge chance to get a certificate this week so make sure you fit some time in to have a go. You are for sure going to need your times tables next year, so keep practising!

We've also been sent a link for our Year 6 children for more transition information, including a video. I'll pop the link below! Have a good day! Missing you, as always!

Lots of love,

Mrs D and Mrs N

Good morning!

We got some really good news yesterday from The Anti-Bullying Alliance! They have recognised how we work really hard as a school to stop any bullying and make sure everyone feels safe and happy coming to JPS. I am over the moon that they've given us the GOLD award! Woohoo!!

That is in part because YOU GUYS are such good up-standers and always look out for each other. You also know that you can tell an adult what is happening and we'll help you out. Well done!

Have a brilliant day and remember we are GOLD!!

Lots of love,

Mrs D and Mrs N

Hello gang!

I hope you've all had a fab weekend! I did - yay!

Well done if you've got a TTRS certificate this week - Ivan, Ewan and Archie in 6D and Bobby, Kelsey and Jazmin in 6N. Brilliant! And great work if you added points to your team but didn't make it into the Top 3. This week I've switched it up a bit to make it Year 6 vs Year 5. I've made a little prediction as to which year group will win, but let's see if I'm right!

I've also posted more work on the Offline Resources section if you need printed work. Mrs Blacknell would be happy to print work off for you to collect if you need it - just contact school. There are some Mindfulness challenges in there, too. You should also have your Purple Mash log ins, where I've set a 'To-do' challenge to have a play with their animation programme. Maybe someone will make a new Wallace and Gromit film??

Here's to a great week - wherever you are and whatever you're doing. YOU ARE ALL BRILLIANT.

Miss you lots!

Mrs D and Mrs N

TTRS Winners from last week!

3/7/2020

Good morning and Happy Friday!

I hope you've all got something to look forward to this weekend? I'm looking forward to a film and ice cream night tonight, once Max has gone to bed. It's my turn to choose the film, too. Yippeeeee! I might try a little bit of baking with Max, too. By baking, I obviously mean the easy boxes with Paw Patrol decorations or something like that!

Keep your eyes peeled on the Transition pages on the school website - there's lots of staff profiles being added all the time and some videos of our lovely school.

TTRS is CLOSE! It's not looking good for 6D though... uh oh...

Anyway! Have a lovely weekend and WELL DONE for all your hard work this week!

Miss you lots!

Love Mrs D and Mrs N

Good morning!

I hope you're all doing well? Baby Davies 2.0 has decided that night time is 'Super-fun-disco-party-time' and kicks alllll night so I'm a bit tired today... Oh well!

I also have reason to believe that Mrs N has been letting her Year 6 bubble go on TTRS in a bid to beat 6D in the weekly tournament... just look at this week's results so far:

6D, we need you! The battle finishes tomorrow so there's plenty of time to get first place! Well done if you've already got some points for your team. Even if everyone has 5 minutes on it, there's 33 of you so we should be able to smash 6N! Sorry, not sorry, 6N. wink

Have a fab day!

Lots of love from Mrs D and Mrs N

HAPPY JULY EVERYONE!

Normally July is when we're all ridiculously busy with our End of Year Production. It's such a shame we won't be able to strut our stuff on stage, but Year 5 - you will have a chance next year, and Year 6 - you'll have an even bigger stage waiting for you at your secondary schools. I know you would have all shone like the superstars you are, but I'm also slightly relieved that I won't have to balance on a stool at the back of the hall this year especially! And also relieved for the grown ups who would've had to catch me if I fell!

Hopefully you've had a chance to look at the transition section of the website and know where you'll be next year - whether at JPS or beyond. Exciting times!

Have a fab Wednesday!

Love Mrs D and Mrs N

WOAH! IT'S OFFICIALLY THE LAST DAY OF JUNE!

Have a look at the new transition page on our website if you get a chance. It's a work in progress but there are a few bits and bobs on there already. I'll put the link below.

Year 5s, your grown ups should be getting an email today with more information about September.

Year 6s, your grown ups should also be getting a letter/email soon about Leavers' celebrations. If you haven't already sent in any baby photos, please do!

How exciting! Have a fab Tuesday and keep going with the Home Learning!

Lots of love,

Mrs D and Mrs N

29/6/2020

Good morning! Welcome to Week 4 of the last half term of school! It's going sooooo fast!

While you guys are working your socks off with the National Oak Academy online lessons, or the offline work (which you're welcome to use if you need a change from looking at a screen!) we're busy looking at lots of behind the scenes stuff...

For instance, we're working on how we are going to celebrate our Leavers *hint - videos!* and get Year 5 ready for coming back in September. It's exciting to see that Year 6 are starting to get their form groups from their secondary schools, and we'll have news for Year 5 really soon. Woohoo!

Still missing you LOTS,

Love from Mrs D and Mrs N

26/6/2020

Good morning!

Happy Friday! That's another week of Home Learning under your belt. It still feels really weird to be apart like this, but you're all doing SO well! Sometimes I have to remember that it's all temporary and (hopefully) in September, everyone will be back in action in the classrooms again, whether at JPS or their new secondary school. We're edging ever closer to being able to hang out with our friends again, which is great news too! Yippee!

Speaking of September, there's a new Transition 2020 section of the website (under the Key Information tab) that we're working on at the moment. Keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Have a lovely weekend everybody and stay safe!

Lots of love,

Mrs D and Mrs N

25/6/2020

Good morning!

Well what a week for the weather! Just be careful, though - there was a warning on the news this morning that the UV rays are ridiculously strong today so even 5 minutes without sun cream could cause all sorts of bother. Max hates having cream put on but I'm pretty sure he'd hate sunburn even more...

If you need a break from your home learning tasks (National Oak or Offline Work) out of the sunshine, please have a go at one of the core apps we use - TTRS, Spelling Shed, Read Theory or Purple Mash. The TTRS tournament is REALLY close this week, but there have only been 6 of you on it! Out of 77! And only one Year 5... Yikes! Will be interesting to see the results tomorrow. Come on 6D!

Have a super day!

Miss you lots! Love Mrs D and Mrs N

Good morning!

It's going to be another scorchio day! Hope you get to enjoy some of the sunshine. I managed outside until about 10.30 then hid in the house until it got much cooler! I'm normally a fan but being this big in the heat isn't great!

Here's what today is looking like, weather wise:

And here is what my day will probably look like, with my number one fan:

Remember to let us know what you get up to via your grown up's FB posts on the Year 5 & 6 group!

Miss you!

Good morning!

It's going to be a lovely day so fingers crossed you all get a chance to enjoy the sunshine at some point today! It's going to get even warmer this week, so make sure you're all keeping hydrated too, and get that sun cream on so you don't get burnt to a crisp!

Well done if your name is on our Spelling Shed star this week - you had a go at the Spelling Shed rule on the app! Brilliant! Don't forget the TTRS contest is live, too.

Missing you all!

22/6/2020

Good morning!

Hope you had a lovely weekend! The Davieses had a lovely (and socially distanced) wander around Felley Woods on Sunday with The Lewises. It was so nice to see them but LOOK HOW HUGE I AM! Only 6 weeks to go now. Eek!

Congratulations to 6N on their TTRS win last week... the certificates are below. 6D we need to stage a come-back this week please! The next tournament should be up and running, and ends on Friday lunch time.

Hopefully you're all getting along with the Oak National Academy lessons ok. I'm excited about the art lesson on Friday, which seems to be on Matisse. Also, it looks like a new topic in Maths for both Year 5 and Year 6 - yippee! There are new offline learning packs in that section of the class page, too, in case you can't access the online work.

Have a fab week! Remember, if you need us, get in touch. The best way is probably through the FB groups that your grown ups have probably joined by now. Oh! And I still need baby photos from Year 6 please and thank you!

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Well done for almost completing another week of Home Learning. This new normal is almost feeling normal now, isn't it? Still mega proud of everyone who is keeping up with some learning whilst looking after yourself, too. Yay!

The TTRS battle ends today and 6D, WHAT IS GOING ON?!! 6N, stay off it today thanks... 🙈 Certificates will be online on Monday.

Good morning!

This has been my face this morning while Max has been in a very good (and loud!) mood today. Too early!!

Later on, The Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) is leading the UK's biggest assembly, which you can watch on YouTube at 10.00 am. I'll try to post the link below, but if you can't find it, it should be on the Oak National Academy site and also the TES YouTube channel.

Hope you have a fab Thursday and avoid the rain!

If you're in Year 6, can you ask your grown ups to check their emails - we need photos for one of our Leavers' videos. Thank you!

Well done to all the children named on this star - you took on the Spelling Shed rule last week and played some of the games. Yay! Let's see if we can get some more names on for this week's rule. Remember we have your log in details if you need them.

Good morning and Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend and got to enjoy a little bit of sunshine between the storms.

I'll upload the TTRS certificates below - massive congratulations to our Top 3 per class but also well done if you managed to get on and get some points for your team. Another tournament is up and running, and Spelling Shed has a new rule to try out on those games, too.

Please remember to let us know if you're having any problems accessing the Oak National Academy work. It seems like most of you are getting on with it really well but you are also definitely allowed to be kind to yourself, too! Find that balance of learning time and looking after yourself, too.

Here's a photo of my friend Lola reminding me to chill out a bit last week:

Good morning!

Hope you're all doing well and cracking on with the Home Learning ok - whether that's Oak National Academy or the offline resources.

This week, the TTRS battle only has 35 points in it so either 6D or 6N could take the crown! Wonder who it will be?? I'll post an updated score sheet below.

We are STILL very proud of every single one of you who has adjusted to the new way of learning and keeping those brain cells going. We know it's not the same as being in school with your friends, but you are doing so well! Keep going!

Good morning!

Where has the sunshine gone?! I think it disappeared as soon as the word 'barbecue' was mentioned by a certain Prime Minister. Come back, sunshine! Oh, I wonder how many of you will be able to complain about the weather in Spanish by the end of their Oak National Academy lessons today?

If you're looking for a creative brain break today, this video has some really cool ideas to try. Obviously they're far too complicated for Mrs D, but some Year 3/4 legends have had a go, so Year 5/6 have got to have a try too! Show us the results on the FB group or Purple Mash if you manage to complete any.

Have a good day! Mrs D is going to try and resist eating all the Penguin bars in the house... Wish me luck!

Funny Things You Should Try To Do At Home | 9 AMAZING CRAFTS FOR FAMILY AND FUN

8/6/2020

Good morning!

Hope you all had a restful weekend. We completed our mission of chilling out - lots of films on the sofa. Perfect! Fingers crossed we're all getting more used to the Oak National Academy website. Please remember that it's not the same as being in school, with one of your (amazingly talented and beautiful) teachers there to help you. It is harder! But as long as you give it a go, that's brilliant!

There's the offline work section for those of you who can't get online regularly, and don't forget about Spelling Shed, Read Theory, TTRS (certificates below!), and Purple Mash. Plenty to keep us all busy! I'm trying to read before bed rather than trawling through the news on my phone and I'm sure it's helped me to sleep better, so I recommend getting stuck into a book, too.

Remember you can ask your grown ups to get in touch with us at any point during the week if anyone needs help. We're still here, even if you can't see us all the time!

Spelling Shed Rule of the Week

5/6/2020

Happy Friday!

Although it looks like we're facing a bit of a drizzly weekend, it's definitely time to chill and celebrate all the hard work you've done this week. If your house is anything like mine, everyone has faced new changes in routine this week and we're all really, really, really, tired! Looking forward to a weekend of watching films (Max loves the Disney Robin Hood one) and having some naps. Rock and roll!

If you're looking for something to do that isn't Oak National Academy work, or one of our online apps (TTRS certificates available later!), I spied a fun looking project being run by Blue Peter called 'Six Badges of Summer.' I'll post the link below.

Enjoy a well-earned rest this weekend - and that goes for all the grown ups who have been helping you at home too! A massive well done for completing another week of "new normal" and showing how brilliant you all are. Miss you lots!

Friday's lessons

4/6/2020

Good morning!

It's been brilliant to see how well everyone has been getting on with the new Oak National Academy learning online. Remember there are always alternatives to use with our Home Learning, but it's the best option, especially for those  of you who are going into school on some days. There are certificates up for grabs if you have a try at TTRS; I'll post a screen grab of the current standings below (look away, Mrs N!).

In other news: I've been using my laptop a lot more than usual this week, and found my eyes and brain needed a break from looking at a screen every now and again. Despite being not very good (at all!), I've decided to try my hand at knitting again. All the mums in my family - since the dawn of time - have all been amazing knitters, so I am definitely letting the side down, but I've got my growth mindset on, and I'm sure Lola the cat will love her new mini-scarf when it's finished! Get your orders in for Christmas now... wink

Have a great day - whether you're working at home or at school!

Oak National Academy - Thursday

TTRS Update - 4th June

3/6/2020

Hola! Buenos dias! That's for all those brand new Spanish speakers who had a go at the Spanish lesson yesterday. Brilliant! You already know more Spanish than Mrs D, so congratulations! Good luck with Wednesday's lessons on the schedule today. You're all doing so well - keep going!

If you get a chance, have a look on Newsround today and see if you can find out more about what's going on in The United States of America. It's really important to keep up with what's going on in the world, and Newsround is a good website for finding out more. I'll put the link below.

Oak National Academy - Wednesday

2/6/2020

Good morning!

Thank you so much to everyone who tried the Oak National Academy lessons yesterday. I know it's never easy to try a new system and it will take a while for us all to adjust to it. It might be that later down the line we use parts of it alongside other learning opportunities, but for the time being, it is the best way to ensure that everyone (whether at school or home) is getting access to the same lessons, and that those in "bubbles" know what to expect if they're in school later in the week. It was great to see so many of you watching the videos and trying the lessons out! yes

Having said that, we appreciate that everyone has different circumstances - be it time to complete the lessons, to internet access, to motivation levels on a daily basis - so the message stays the same from us: do what works best for you as a family, as and when. There is an 'offline resources' section on the class pages, which has alternative work, plus all the apps/site you already use: TTRS, Spelling Shed, Read Theory & Purple Mash. Reading is always a fantastic activity to get stuck in with, too!

Thank you for keeping in touch with us and letting us know how you're getting on! Remember, we're here to help, so please contact us if you have any problems.

Lots of love,

Mrs D & Mrs N

x

P.S. Shout out and a massive thank you to the amazing Mrs Manton, who finds herself teaching Year 6 Maths and loving it! Thank you, Mrs M! heart

Good morning! It's the first day of Summer Term 2 and the new learning system, using Oak National Academy. Please let us know if you have any problems getting online.

I've uploaded the Spelling Shed rule for this week below, and the Timestable Rockstars certificates from the week before half term. Remember you can still go on those websites, Purple Mash and Read Theory to keep those brain cells ticking.

Spelling Shed Rule of the Week

Did you win a certificate before half term?

31/5/2020

Hello everyone!

Well, didn't we get a treat with the weather over the half-term break? Fingers crossed you all had a lovely time soaking up the sunshine and having a break from school work.

Mrs D has had a go at changing up our Class Pages on the website so that it's easier to find the new lessons we'll be using at school and at home: Oak National Academy.

If you click on the leaf on each Class Page, you should be able to find the correct lessons for that day. There are videos and quizzes to do and it's really important that you try to complete the lessons each day, because then everyone will be up to date at the same time.

Please let us know if you have any problems accessing the lessons - we will try our best to help! Also, if there are any problems with our website, it'll be Mrs D's fault, so let me know!

Again - we are so proud of how flexible you have all been, and we're confident that you will deal with this "new normal" with the same maturity and can-do attitudes you've shown since March. Legends!

Missing you all and looking forward to the next bit of this Home Learning/School Bubbles adventure! We'll keep putting messages on here, so keep your eyes peeled.

Lots of love,

Mrs D and Mrs N
